Judging by the title of this masterpiece* by Edmund Spencer, I think the person telling the stories is the Faerie Queen herself. Overall, the poems are very romantic, which distinguishes them from the Anglo-Saxon period.
Sonnet 67
Spencer uses the hunt as a metaphor for how the more we chase something, the more likely we are to end up empty handed. The Faerie Queen was surprised when the deer offered itself up for entrapment: "So goodly won, with her own will beguiled."
Sonnet 75
Awww Edmund Spencer is in love with the Faerie Queen! Or as we officially say, "the speaker" is in love with the queen.
